The Aurora Place is an unusual geometric-shaped structure where not one panel is parallel to any grid. The structure consists of a large freestanding ‘Sail’, a ‘Corner Sail’ which slopes both vertically and horizontally, and a Sail ‘overlap’ with very limited access width mid span of the building.
The façade design combined with an extremely limited parking area and the Architect’s requirement for the BMU to be completely hidden from view when parked.
The BMU unit consists of a telescoping and luffing jib, fixed atop a vertically telescoping pedestal. When not in use, jib retracts and luff down, and the pedestal also retracts to completely remove the unit from view.
