Hard Rock Cafe is one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable brands in the world, encompassing leisure, entertainment and lifestyle.
The multi-million dollar expansion and development of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida, due to be completed in 2019, is an adventurous and visually stunning architectural project which pays tribute to Hard Rock’s iconic status.
The centrepiece of the 638-room hotel and casino development is a 140 metre tower of blue glass windows, offering guests numerous restaurants, luxurious lounges and spa facilities – all boldly designed in the unique form of two back-to-back guitars, complete with strings! The complex will also boast a 10-acre lagoon pool, an expanded casino, a beach club and water sports. In short, it will be the last word in rock star fantasy living!
Of course, this huge project relies on the upkeep of its breath taking visual iconography to create the Hard Rock atmosphere. Therefore achieving facade access with practical, unobtrusive building maintenance units will be a key factor in the ongoing success of the resort.
CoxGomyl were chosen to design, manufacture and install the facade access solutions due to their wealth of experience working with architects and developers on unique and unusually shaped buildings. The client required comprehensive facade access to all parts of the building which would also allow for glass panel replacement. Bearing in mind the importance of the striking guitar shaped design, the building maintenance units were also required to be hidden below the parapet when in parked position in order to maintain the integrity of the unique form.
The full access solution CoxGomyl presented uses four building maintenance units. Two units are housed are at the top of the building on level 34 with a shunt car and twin track system. A third BMU is located at level 31 and, finally, there is a monorail and self-powered cradle for access to the guitar ‘strings’ which extend up above the roof.
